Information for the Blind

Equipment and Websites

In Israel, computerized equipment for the blins is available at Kibutz Gaash and equipment for the blind at “The Center for the Blind in Israel”. Personally, I buy all my daily equipment (canes, watches, multi track cassette players, etc.) at the National Federation of the Blind. I especially recommend their telescopic canes and talking wrist-watches, that look like regular watches.

Let's Talk is an Isareli company developing software for the blind.

Jaws is the best computer software for text representation. It converts written text to text on Braille monitors and also reads it out loud. Currently it does not support Hebrew, although an unofficial Hebrew ASCII conversion table exists, and it works well with Jaws and a Braille monitor.
