Music

In 1993-1998 I was a student for music in both Lewinski College and Bar-Ilan University. At the time I played only the piano. I discovered the world of MIDI (Musical Instruments Digital Interface - a way to digitally represent various instruments) and realized I could communicate with non-blind musicians by converting MIDI files I composed to printed music notes.

Unlike today, In the early 1990s a home recording studio was only possible on dreams. Recording in a proffessional studio was expensive.

I purchased a sampler and began playing a lot with the sound envelope, sound quality and sampling methods.

In the three pieces here I play all instruments using the sampler. Unfortunately, I have to leave to your imagination the picture of how playing actual instruments would have sounded like.

The first piece is an exception. It was written specifically for electronically produced sound rather than acoustic instrumental sound. It is called 'Thoughts'. In 1997 a live version of it was performed by seven instruments players at Bar-Ilan University. The seven players version is not currently available at the site. Listening to the piece is recommended using headphones or music oriented sound system. Computer speakers will not do.

The second piece is a Sonatina for cello and guitar. It is light and easy to swallow.

The third piece is two chapters from a Requiem with no chorus, which composing was never finished. It is a modern piece that may be difficult to listen to. Every chapter in it ends with a musical question mark.
